
Ocean County was established in 1850 from portions of Monmouth County.* It is home to Island Beach State Park, the resort of Seaside Heights and Point Pleasant Beach. Six Flags Great Adventure, which is the location of the largest outdoor animal safari in the United States as well as the world's tallest, fastest roller coaster, Kingda Ka is located in Jackson Township. The minor league baseball team, Lakewood Blueclaws, also calls Ocean County home. Ocean county is the beginning of New Jersey's New Jersey Pine Barrens. The state's largest suburban school district, Toms River Regional Schools, is located in this county.
